Interpretive Dynamic TA Psychotherapy (IDTAP) in the Treatment of BPD (for Researchers)

This will be a training focusing on adherence to interpretive dynamic transactional analysis psychotherapy (IDTAP) for the purpose of the research of effectiveness of IDTAP in the treatment of BPD at clinical and subclinical levels.

The training was developed for co-researcher psychotherapists who participate on this study.

It will take place online on Saturday, 22nd October from 9am-4pm.

The training will consist of the theory part and supervision of the participants’ own clinical practice through the lens of IDTAP.

It will entail:

  • Conceptualisation and placement of interpretive dynamic transactional analysis psychotherapy (IDTAP) within TA and in the context of TA history.

  • The use of transference and countertransference from the perspective of interpretive dynamic TA psychotherapy (IDTAP).

  • Dynamic ego state model and how it differs from Berne’s (1961) structural model.

  • Intrapsychic and interpersonal defensive strategies.

  • Diagnosis of personality functioning and its conceptualisation with the focus on the diagnosis of BPD according to AMPD of DSM-5.

  • Other particularities in the treatment of BPD.

  • Contracting and the therapeutic frame and their importance as intervention techniques.

  • Common difficulties (e.g. stuckness) in the therapeutic process.

The main focus of the training will be on the treatment of BPD.
