Clinical Use of Interpretive Dynamic Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy (IDTAP)—Physis Scotland

In a one-day online training, organised by Physis Scotland, Ales Zivkovic will be discussing the clinical use of interpretive dynamic transactional analysis psychotherapy (IDTAP).

IDTAP is a unique approach to the use of transactional analysis (TA) in clinical setting. It represents a 3-person psychotherapy approach, placing the concepts of transference and countertransference at its forefront. IDTAP is firmly grounded in some of Berne’s original theories and updated with contemporary psychoanalytic and psychodynamic techniques and research.

Using IDTAP in clinical setting allows the psychotherapist to track and analyse moment-to-moment interactions and use them to understand the various conscious and unconscious processes that occur during the therapeutic process.

This one-day training will consist of theory, examples, and an opportunity to learn from consultation of the participants’ clinical cases.

The content of the training:

•      Conceptualisation and placement of interpretive dynamic transactional analysis psychotherapy (IDTAP) in the context of Berne’s TA theory and principles.

•      The use of transference and countertransference from the perspective of interpretive dynamic TA psychotherapy (IDTAP).

•      Dynamic ego state model and how it differs from Berne’s structural and functional models.

•      The use of intrapsychic and interpersonal defensive strategies and their role in identity consolidation.

•      Contracting and the therapeutic frame.

•      Diagnosis of personality functioning and its place in the treatment.

•      Etc.
